I am really surprised we haven't heard more stories like this but here's something I saw on the ID(Investigation Discovery) channel and I was watching it with my jaw on the freaking ground.
A woman bought a house-a bit of a fixer-upper..a little bit after she moves in this guy starts harassing her. Turns out the guy had lived there;he had beat his wife and wound up going to prison; his wife sold the house and got the hell out of town; the house changed hands several times;every owner of the house had had dealings with the former owner(and wound up moving..big shocker there.)
The man couldn't let go of the fact that the house wasn't his anymore, and he proceeded to make the woman's life a misery-he tried to have the woman thrown out of the house-never mind that she was the owner of the house, she had bought it.
When the former owner tried to have her thrown out of her house, she went to the cops who basically shrugged their shoulders and said "Nothin' we can do about it". With all due respect, I have a hard time believing that.
Her fighting it just made things worse, and the guy kept escalating things..anyhow, long story short he escalated it to the point that she shot him.Killed him. And she was arrested and charged with murder-albeit briefly. When the cops realised that she had been defending herself charges were dropped.
I have the utmost respect for the police, but I think there was a lot of miscommunication going on-I'm wondering why the police were so reluctant to look into what was going on.She owned the house fair and square-how is it possible that the former owner-who hadn't lived there for *many* years, was able to pull rank like that-and have the police completely on his side? It's be-freakingzarre.
