I have been looking up some of the people I first met when I got on the internet almost 17 years ago. It's kind of a..searches for a word and settles on "Mixed bag"-to say the least.
Like my friend who I met when I first got online. We had a couple of mutual friends, and a couple of mutual enemies, too(the reveal that someone who a mutual friend was actually *also* a friend of one of our mutual enemies(got that?) was earth-shaking. I admit that I kinda overreacted when I found out. That person disappeared not long after that(I can't find any record of them apart from old archived stuff from years and years ago) I think I pissed her off with my reaction(can't say I blame her TBH) but I read her blog and..I just don't think we have anything in common. The thing that we had in common back then was that we liked the same band.
Then there were the TimeOnline boards-that was 1998-200? I met a lot of really great people on there, some of whom I am friends with. But I *did* clash with some people there. There were several people that..how shall we say..reveled in being abrasive.
That led into the Junk Drawer board. I loved the Junk Drawer-I actually went to a get-together with a bunch of people who posted on the board..But again..there were people that I didn't get along with there..however,it's not insurmountable..one of the people that I initially did not get along with is one of my best online friends!
For all the fun we had on the Junk Drawer, it also could be problematic. I don't even know where to start on why that was :P
I'm kinda over posting on messageboards- a lot of the ones that I post on are not very busy anymore-among other things. I love my friends on Twitter-they're awesome :)
