[an overabundance of caution/troubling]

3 Holland America  cruises have been cancelled because of engine problems. That's good. Better safe than sorry.

Now to the "what are Cruise Critic posters thinking?" portion of the post:

There is a(still ongoing though there's beginning to be some thread drift) about manners. There was a comment about how there are some who expect *everyone* to conform to their standards.Indeed.. Holland America cruisers are a international bunch, and I think that gets forgotten-deliberately in a lot of cases.

Then there was the post where a man(woman?) said the maitre did would not allow them  to wear a hat in the MDR(main dining room) and so had to subject fellow diners to(and apparently sickened ) them with the sight of  their brain surgery scar. If this is true..WTF.

The the reaction to that was.. a non-reaction. Basically, "if we make an exception for you, we have to make an exception for everyone". Compassion is something quite a few Cruise Critic posters(and at least one Holland America maitre'd) lack. I've said this before: there may be a legit reason someone has to wear a hat in the  MDR. That gets forgotten/ignored.

It's a LOT of people's berzerk button. And when I say berzerk, I mean exactly that.
